From WorldTour prototype to one of the most interesting wheels on the market: this is what the new Reserve Turbulent Aero SL looks like
Reserve Wheels has taken a new step in its high-performance road range by partnering with Tune to launch a limited edition of its Turbulent Aero SL wheels, which become the lightest that the American brand has manufactured so far. The result is a combination (SL rims, Tune hubs, and carbon spokes) designed without compromise for competition, with less weight, greater stiffness, and a completely specific construction between rim, spokes, and hub.
Reserve and Tune sign the lightest wheelsets ever produced by the brand
The basis of this collaboration is the Turbulent Aero SL rims, optimized compared to the standard versions to reduce 30 grams per rim without altering aerodynamic behavior or structural integrity. Reserve maintains its design philosophy oriented towards real race conditions, moving away from solutions designed solely for wind tunnel testing.

Prototypes very close to the final version of these wheels were already seen in competition last season, mounted on the bikes of Wout van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard, or Pauline Ferrand Prevot, from the Team Visma-Lease a Bike, confirming that this is a product designed from the outset for the highest level.

The range is articulated in three differentiated profiles, with asymmetric front/rear configurations:
- 34/37 mm, aimed at climbers
- 42/49 mm, versatile option
- 57/64 mm, designed for maximum speed

The major technical debut comes with the Tune Pico hubs, a model developed specifically for these wheels and at the request of the Visma Lease a Bike team. They are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, with anodized axles and a declared weight of 275 g per set.

The 69-point engagement system (5.2°) has the possibility of being upgraded to 138 POE (2.6°). The Pico hubs share internal components with the well-known Micro and Nano from Tune, but have been adapted to the ERD and drill offset of the Reserve SL rims.

The wheels are built with straight and shaped Vanoa carbon spokes, with no twists or bends between the hub and rim. According to Reserve, this direct alignment reduces stresses at the anchor points, improves load distribution, and results in a set that is stiffer, more durable, and more efficient in efforts like sprints.
Models, weights, and price
The weights declared by Reserve place these wheels among the lightest on the market within their aero category:
- 34/37 mm: 1,140 g
- 42/49 mm: 1,290 g
- 57/64 mm: 1,470 g
All sets include installed tubeless tape, Fillmore valves, four spare carbon spokes, disc lock rings, and transport bags. They are offered with XDR or HG hubs, in standard road sizes (100x12 mm front and 142x12 mm rear), with no weight limit for the cyclist and with a lifetime warranty.
All Reserve SL Tune wheelsets are priced at €3,499 regardless of the chosen profile.
