Fizik redefines its fastest shoe for XC and gravel with the Ferox 2
Fizik takes another step in its high-performance off-road line with the new Ferox 2 Carbon, an evolution that enhances the concept of the shoe following current trends. The Italian brand introduces a new anatomical shape, revises the fit, and optimizes the sole to improve power transfer in a context where the position on the bike and the demands of the terrain have changed significantly in recent years.
Fizik updates its most radical XC and gravel shoe with a new, more natural and efficient base
One of the most relevant changes is in the base of the shoe, the sole and midsole. Fizik has rethought its design to adapt it to current positions on the bike, which are more aggressive in many cases but also more demanding biomechanically. The Ferox 2 reduces the heel drop and widens the space in the forefoot area, allowing for a more natural extension of the foot while pedaling.

This fit not only seeks comfort but also has a clear impact in terms of performance. A flatter platform and a wider toe box allow for more efficient force application and reduce fatigue during prolonged efforts. Additionally, it facilitates lowering the heel in technical areas, which is especially useful in XC descents or complicated gravel sections.

Fizik maintains the hybrid adjustment system. The combination of the Powerstrap with a BOA Li2 dial in the front area remains the basis of the closure, although it now comes with significant changes in its operation.
The Powerstrap has been redesigned to improve its integration with the shoe. The new anchoring arrangement allows the strap to work in conjunction with the sole and insole, increasing stability without creating uncomfortable pressure points. Additionally, it is lighter, more flexible, and distributes tension better over the instep.

At the front, the BOA Li2 allows for a precise fit that adapts to the shape of the foot while in motion. The entire assembly is supported by a new boot-like internal structure made of perforated Airprene that wraps around the foot and eliminates friction areas.
The work on the upper has been one of the key points of this second generation. Fizik has sought a balance between ventilation, flexibility, and durability, which is particularly challenging in a shoe designed for competition in variable conditions.
The solution involves a layered construction that combines different mesh fabrics with PU reinforcements in the most exposed areas. The result is a shoe that keeps weight under control, improves breathability, and better withstands the wear and tear typical of use in mountain or gravel.
Additionally, the outer material repels water, preventing the shoe from gaining weight in muddy or humid conditions, which is common in stage races or long-distance events.
Following the concept of its base, the Ferox 2 incorporates a new carbon sole redesigned with a lower profile and a wider platform. This change aims to increase foot stability on the pedal and improve power transfer.

The contact with the pedal is greater, resulting in a more direct sensation when applying force. This is complemented by a full rubber coating on the sole, including the midsection, which improves grip when getting off the bike.
The overall design maintains high stiffness, clearly oriented towards performance, but with a more stable base that facilitates control in technical situations.
