Filippo Colombo and Candice Lill repeat victory in the Salamina Epic Race #2

Filippo Colombo takes the victory again in the second round of the Salamina Epic Race after a tough battle with Mathis Azzaro that ended in a close sprint finish. In the women's category, Candice Lill once again won ahead of Kate Courtney and Greta Seiwald and the three riders replicated the same podium as the day before.

Filippo Colombo retains the crown in Salamina: second victory in two days of competition

With no time to digest everything that happened yesterday, the riders lined up again at the starting grid to compete in the second race of the Salamina Epic Race. A moment to demand an extra effort from the legs to face the well-deserved rest - until Sunday - with the tranquility of having done the homework. Another assault that ended, as the day before, with almost the same protagonists.

The clouds covered the sun as the cyclists began to pedal. Filippo Colombo emulated his great performance from the previous day with a victory that granted him the honor of once again stepping on the highest step of the podium and collecting another good haul of points. The Swiss rider had to sweat to break a race with no clear leader: up to ten riders formed the lead pack and presented themselves as candidates for victory.

However, Colombo managed to be the strongest and extend his dominance over Greek territory for another day. This time he fought for first place with a determined Mathis Azzaro, who took the race to a photo finish sprint. Thus, the young French rider slipped the first position from his hands, although he completed a great performance that brought him back to the podium in second place after finishing third yesterday.

Behind them, the other top riders alternated in the top positions and some of them, like Martin Blums -fourth- or Andri Frischknecht -sixth-, were able to finish with a better taste in their mouths than the one left by yesterday's race.

Candice Lill, Kate Courtney, and Greta Seiwald replicate the podium of the first race

The women's race ended just like yesterday: Candice Lill, Kate Courtney, and Greta Seiwald were once again the protagonists of a podium that turned out to be identical to the first race in Salamina. The South African rider made the most of her great form with another fantastic result that puts her with a full set of victories that demonstrate her good physical condition at the start of the season.

Kate Courtney repeated silver and Greta Seiwald bronze. The riders from Scott SRAM and Decathlon Ford Racing Team once again placed their team jerseys - both teams are part of the heavyweights competing in Greek lands - on the Salamina podium.

Now it's time to recover strength for the highlight of the week: the Sunday race takes place on the same circuit but, unlike the two preceding ones -C1-, it has an HC category.
