Remco Evenepoel fractures his collarbone
The Belgian press has confirmed with eyewitnesses that Remco Evenepoel suffered the accident when the driver of a courier van suddenly opened the door. The impact was so strong that the vehicle's door also ended up bent.
The Belgian cyclist was lying on the ground for a while until medical assistance arrived and he was urgently transferred to the Erasmus Hospital in Anderlecht.
Several sources suggest that Evenepoel suffered at least a collarbone fracture, but Patrick Lefevere, director of the Soudal Quick-Step team, has not yet confirmed the diagnosis and only explained that the cyclist was complaining of shoulder and hand pain.
