Erik Hægstad's story: leaving his family to become a professional mountain biker
Norwegian Erik Hægstad is one of the latest signings of the renewed Team KMC Orbea. This 25-year-old mountain biker is the protagonist of the new chapter of 'My own path', a video in which we know his story and his way to become a MTB professional.
Erik Hægstad's path to becoming a professional mountain biker
Hægstad was born in Fiskum, a small town about 80km from Oslo, the capital of Norway. From an early age he knew he wanted to become a professional cyclist and to do so he would have to leave his hometown to achieve it.
At the age of 15, he decided to move to Lillehammer, a town known for hosting the 1994 Winter Olympics, to join a high performance center where getting a place is no easy task. There he finished his studies while training.
