Electronics come to photochromic glasses
The innovative Italian brand Out Of has presented its latest creation: the Bot 2 glasses, a high-tech accessory designed for cyclists that promises to change the experience on the road and in the mountains. These photochromic glasses have a unique ability to automatically adjust the tint of their lenses in less than a second, thanks to the advanced integrated electronic technology.
These photochromic glasses adapt in less than 1 second
The system of the Bot 2 glasses is based on an electronic lens with instant photochromic performance, all without the need for batteries. Instead of batteries, these glasses are powered by a small solar cell, which harnesses ambient light to recharge and activate the tint change system. This process, controlled by IRID® technology, uses a special liquid crystal film that allows the glasses to adapt to light conditions in just 0.09 seconds, far surpassing traditional photochromic lenses.

In addition to their impressive functionality, the Bot 2 glasses offer an ergonomic and versatile design. They are available with two types of temples: the Classic, which have a slight curvature for a comfortable fit around the head, and the Adapta, which are straighter but include an adjustable silicone finish for a personalized fit.
Photochromic glasses are a type of lenses designed to automatically adapt to ambient light conditions. These glasses contain substances like silver chloride or copper that react to ultraviolet rays, darkening or lightening the lenses depending on the amount of sunlight present. This mechanism makes them an ideal choice for outdoor activities, especially for cycling and mountain biking, where changes in brightness can be frequent and sudden.
Although they offer significant advantages, such as not having to remove the glasses in different light conditions, it is important to note that their performance may vary with temperature. For example, in warm climates they may darken less, and in cold climates they may take longer to lighten.
The selling price that the brand has set for these glasses is not suitable for everyone's budget or popular. Out Of sells this model in two frame versions, the Classic and the Adapta. The selling price varies depending on the model, but also depending on the type of lens chosen, as there are four: IRID Blue, Red, Green, or X-10. Depending on this, the price will change. The cost of the glasses ranges between 349 and 379 euros. The IRIS X-10 model is the most expensive of all, while between the two different frames, the price increases by 10€ when selecting the Adapta model instead of the Classic.
