11,000€ per stage and 1.6 million in total. How are the economic prizes distributed in the Giro 2024?
The Giro d'Italia 2024 is already underway and will capture all the cycling attention until May 26. The glory of conquering the maglia rosa often overshadows the economic prizes with which the organization fills the pockets of cyclists and other team members. In total, in this edition there are 1.6 million euros at stake to be distributed among ten different classifications.
The Giro distributes 1,600,000 euros: these are all the economic prizes
The maglia rosa is one of the most coveted jerseys in the world. The Giro is special and whoever conquers it has a reserved place of honor in the history of this sport. The thrill of winning one of the biggest races in the world is surely indescribable, although the glory in this case is accompanied by a good sum of money.
Despite the million-dollar figures of the contracts of the big stars, the rest of the peloton has a more modest salary. Economic prizes are important in cycling because, as usual, they are distributed among all cyclists, assistants, mechanics, and other team members.
