eBikes stop altering the rankings: Strava cleans up its leaderboards
Strava has just announced a host of new features for subscriptions aimed at improving the route planning experience, smart training, and reducing cheating in its rankings.
Strava accelerates its innovation with new features for cyclists and runners
Among the main highlights of this update is the update of the Route Builder in the mobile app, with a more dynamic interface and options such as real-time route details, adjustment of points of interest, and the ability to easily switch between sports (road, gravel, trail).

In September, Power Skills and Training Zones tools will also be introduced, allowing for personalized analysis of performance in power, pace, or heart rate, helping to optimize progression and balance between effort and recovery.

Finally, Strava reinforces integrity in leaderboards with more accurate AI-powered detection algorithms. Just this year, 4.45 million irregular activities have been removed, and with the new update, electric bike rides will be limited to their own rankings, reducing invalid result reports by 85%.
“We want to offer our community not only better training tools, but also a fairer and more motivating environment”, said Matt Salazar, Strava's Product Director.
With these new features, the application aims to consolidate its role as the go-to platform for cyclists and runners looking to train better, compete fairly, and discover new routes anywhere in the world.
