ContiTPU: the ultralight Continental tire for road, gravel, and MTB
Continental expands its range of tubes for all disciplines with the incorporation of their ContiTPU tubes, made, as the name indicates, with thermoplastic polyurethane, the trendy material for the production of this component that the German brand has meticulously worked on to ensure maximum air retention thanks to its construction with 7 layers of this material.
If you continue to use tubes, Continental offers you maximum lightness with their new ContiTPU tubes
TPU tubes have become the favorite choice for cyclists of all disciplines in recent times. Their increased resistance to punctures, great air retention capacity, and above all, their enormous lightness and minimal space occupied in our spare parts bag have become irrefutable arguments to explain their popularity.
The tire manufacturer Continental adds ContiTPU tubes to their catalog to offer loyal users of the German brand who still do not use tubeless, and as a spare to carry on the road for those who have dispensed with this component in their wheels in their day-to-day. Of course, they do so by applying their high quality standards to improve the existing offer in the market.

The main novelty of ContiTPU tubes is their construction with 7 layers of this material, with which the brand seeks to guarantee maximum air tightness and greater durability. Additionally, the TPU used does not receive any dye to make them visually more attractive in order to avoid quality issues such as imperfections on the tube's surface that could affect its performance.
Continental has also worked on the valve area of these tubes, which has a conical shape union to adapt as best as possible to the valve hole, thus reducing unwanted movements of the tube, which ultimately, in addition to preventing it from breaking in that area, also improves rolling quality. Valves that, of course, being premium tubes like these ContiTPU, have a removable core.
Continental includes a small repair kit with these ContiTPU tubes since, as we have explained on occasion, thermoplastic polyurethane requires specific patches for repairing any punctures that may occur. Let's not forget that, although they are more resistant to this issue, they are not completely immune.
Needless to say, ContiTPU tubes are extremely lightweight. For reference, those designed for road wheels with a tire width between 25 and 35 weigh only 35 grams, those for 29'' wheels weigh 45 grams, and those designed for 27.5'' wheels weigh 44 grams.
