The main classics of the 2025 calendar
One-day races, also known in cycling jargon as classics, are mainly some of the most traditional events on the cycling calendar. When we talk about classics, we usually think of Belgium and spring, as that is where the most famous and historic races take place.
However, the intense spring is divided into several chapters, each more exciting than the last. On one hand, we have the cobbled classics that repeatedly traverse the landscapes of Flanders in the lead-up to the week of passion for the cobblestones, featuring the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. These are the second and third monuments of the calendar.

In the midst of the cobblestone frenzy, there is a brief Italian interlude. While initially the Milan-San Remo was the reference race, the recent emergence of the Strade Bianche, which many argue should be a sixth monument, has created an interesting segment in the middle of the classics campaign.
After the cobbled races, it's time for the Ardennes week, a complete change of paradigm towards more demanding climbs where the climbers have a chance to shine. It's the week of the Amstel Gold Race, the Walloon Arrow, and the conclusion in La Doyenne, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, the fourth of the five monuments on the calendar.
Although spring is the peak moment of the classics season, there is still one final episode after their conclusion with the running of Il Lombardia, the fifth and final monument that usually serves as a tribute to the recently crowned World Champion.
