Caught a new Cervélo S5?
In recent days, a bicycle has created a lot of buzz on social media. It is one that the cyclists of Visma-Lease a Bike have been seen riding on the roads of Sierra Nevada, where they train for the upcoming Tour, and everything points to it being an evolution of the Cervélo S5. The aero model from the brand.
An unknown but familiar bicycle has caused a stir on social media after being spotted in the colors of the team. Everything points to an evolution of the Cervélo S5, the flagship aero model from the Canadian brand, which could be about to receive an update just in time for the Critérium du Dauphiné and, by extension, the Tour de France.
New Cervélo S5 on the horizon? The Visma-Lease a Bike team tests a new version before the Tour
The images, shared by the popular Instagram account @cyclingspy, show several riders from the Dutch team, including Vigegaard himself, riding a S5 that, although very similar in appearance to the current model, incorporates key changes in its design, especially in the front of the bicycle.

Change wheels if you want to transform your bike's behavior

What has happened and what is expected in the Giro d'Italia 2025?
One of the most evident modifications is the redesign of the integrated handlebar. Cervélo seems to have abandoned the characteristic V-shaped stem and separate handlebar that defined the current S5, in favor of a more integrated solution. The new set seems to be a single piece, more streamlined in the central area and, probably, lighter and more aerodynamic.
In these initial images, it appears that the frame maintains the lines of its current version with a slightly sloping top tube, aero seatpost, and a seat tube embracing the rear wheel. But it is not easy to say whether the changes have only focused on the handlebar or if the frame also brings significant innovations.
With the Visma cyclists already riding it in training, everything points to the Critérium du Dauphiné, the traditional prelude to the Tour, could be the stage to showcase this bike for the first time. But we still have to wait a few days to confirm it.
