Canyon Lux World Cup CFR 2027: lighter, more radical, and with adjustable anti-squat

Canyon presents the new Lux World Cup CFR with an approach that goes beyond weight reduction. The German brand redefines its benchmark bike for XCO and XCC with a deep renewal in which the bike loses weight, gains travel, changes its geometry, and introduces an unusual anti-squat system for this type of bicycle.

Key Features of the New Canyon Lux World Cup CFR

  • New geometry: more relaxed head angle and greater wheelbase
  • More suspension travel (120 mm front and 110 mm rear)
  • Lighter frame (1,480 grams)
  • “Quick Chip” system with adjustable anti-squat (allows fine-tuning of pedaling efficiency)
  • Increased reliability (new 3D forged link that is stiffer and bearings secured with circlips that improve durability)
  • Weight: from 9.8 kg to 11.5 kg
  • Price: from €3,999 to €7,999

The model also arrives with direct validation in competition. Before its official launch, it has already accumulated top-level victories, such as the wins by Jenny Rissveds, Luca Schwarzbauer, and Sam Gaze at the Cape Epic 2026. So we can assure that it is already a race-approved platform.

The new Lux World Cup comes from a very solid previous generation, with 41 victories just in 2025, but Canyon identified a clear need for evolution. Current XC demands bikes that not only convert every watt into speed but also allow maintaining control on increasingly technical and physical circuits. This reality has conditioned the entire redesign.

The goal has been twofold. On one hand, to improve stability and confidence on fast descents. On the other, to allow the rider to arrive fresher at each climb, understanding that recovery on descents is already a decisive factor in racing.

New Frame: Optimized Lightness with Structural Reinforcement

The new CFR frame in size M weighs 1,480 grams, which represents a reduction of 55 grams compared to the previous generation and a much greater difference compared to the previous CF platform. The figure is relevant, but what is really important is how it is achieved.

Canyon has worked with topological optimization of carbon to eliminate material in non-critical areas and reinforce high-load points such as the chainstays or the bottom bracket. This is complemented by a new forged link that increases the stiffness of the system without penalizing weight.

The result is a more efficient frame, but also more resistant and ready for intensive use in competition. Practically, the brand also introduces maintenance improvements with a design that reduces the number of small parts and facilitates access to the bearings, something that directly impacts workshop downtime.

Geometry: The True Generational Leap

The deepest change is in the geometry. The new Lux is positioned in a much more progressive terrain. The head angle moves to 66 degrees, which represents a very significant reduction compared to the previous generation, while the seat angle is set at 75.5 degrees.

This is complemented by an increase in reach, stack, and wheelbase, which grows by around 40 millimeters. This set of changes completely transforms the behavior of the bike. Stability at high speeds increases significantly, and control in technical areas improves, especially on long and demanding descents.

At the same time, the more vertical seat angle allows maintaining an effective position on the bike on steep climbs, compensating for the relaxed head angle. Practically, the Lux approaches values that just a few years ago were typical of lightweight trail bikes, clearly reflecting where XC is evolving.

Suspension: More Travel and a More Usable Kinematics

The increase in travel is another visible change, with 120 millimeters in the front and 110 millimeters in the rear. However, the behavior of the suspension is where the real advancement is concentrated.

The new kinematics reduces the progression in the first part of the travel, making the system more active in the SAG zone. This translates into better absorption of small irregularities and an increase in traction on technical climbs. As the travel progresses, the curve becomes progressively more supportive, providing support and control on larger impacts.

The result is a more predictable and usable suspension throughout the range, allowing the rider to maintain speed on rough terrain without losing efficiency. All of this is supported by the Flex Pivot system, which remains key to reducing weight and simplifying the rear end design.

Adjustable Anti-Squat: A New Layer of Customization

The main functional novelty is the introduction of the Anti-Squat Flip Chip system. This mechanism allows modifying the level of anti-squat of the system, that is, the resistance of the suspension to compress under the action of pedaling.

The problem it solves is very specific. The level of anti-squat varies depending on the gear used, especially when changing the size of the chainring. Additionally, different circuits require different behaviors in terms of efficiency and sensitivity.

With this system, the user can choose between a configuration more oriented towards efficiency, maximizing power transfer and reducing suspension movement, or one more focused on comfort and traction on technical terrain. It is an adjustment made before competing, but it introduces a level of adaptability that is unusual in pure XC bikes.

Integration and Technical Solutions

Beyond the major changes, the frame incorporates a series of solutions that contribute to overall performance. The use of a floating brake mount improves the operation of the rear suspension by relieving tensions in the chainstay area. The compatibility with 160 or 180 millimeter discs adds versatility depending on the type of circuit.

The internal cable routing has been optimized to facilitate maintenance, while the space for two water bottles responds to the real needs of marathon competition and stage races. The entire design is aimed at minimizing interference and maximizing functionality.

Canyon Lux World Cup 2027: Models, Builds, and Prices

The new Canyon Lux World Cup arrives on the market with a range consisting of five models that share the same frame. The offer starts at €3,999 for the CF model and reaches €7,999 for the top-of-the-line CFR XTR Di2 version, with a weight range from 11.5 kg in the entry model to 9.8 kg in the lightest configuration, maintaining the same frame, geometry, and competition-oriented kinematics in all cases. It is surprising that none of them come with the electronic Flight Attendant system.
