Bec Henderson won with a broken shoulder and will be out at the start of the XCO World Cup: "None of my hands or arms are working properly"
The Australian cyclist Bec Henderson suffered like never before last weekend to be crowned national champion in the XCO and XCC modalities. It is now confirmed that the fall in competition caused her a shoulder fracture that she had to deal with until the finish line. She has announced that she will miss the first World Cup races in Brazil.

The cyclist herself shared on her Instagram account the results of the medical tests after the race: "It's not good news. After the X-rays, I have canceled my trip to New Zealand for the Oceania Championship. Tomorrow I will have a tomography for the thumb and an MRI for the shoulder."
Henderson also explained that both her right shoulder and left thumb are the injuries that keep her in suspense, acknowledging that day-to-day life has become complicated: "I've only been a day and I already have small but real daily problems due to the lack of mobility and strength in both arms. None of my hands or arms work properly."

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the cyclist remained firm and determined to move forward: "I'm in limbo. For now, I don't know the true extent of the consequences, but the reality is that it seems that everything is pointing from bad to worse. I'm not lamenting, just moving forward, doing what needs to be done and gathering information to make decisions."

Henderson also thanked for the support received after competing in extreme conditions: "I am surprised by what I was able to do yesterday knowing what I know now. Thank you all for the messages, I am overwhelmed by the support."
This injury is a tough blow for the Australian, who had high expectations for the start of the World Cup. Now, the focus will be on her recovery and returning to international competition as soon as possible.
