A super team in suspense: the BMC MTB Team, awaiting a wildcard for 2026
The BMC MTB Team has officially presented its new kit for the 2026 season. A set designed by GSport that maintains BMC's visual identity by combining the corporate red with white in the jersey, while the shorts opt for a sober all-black look. This comes as the team awaits a decision on its future in the World Cup.

The BMC MTB Team presents its 2026 kit… while awaiting a wildcard for the XCO World Cup
The presentation of the new kit comes, however, at an uncertain time for the Swiss structure, marked by the access regulations to the XCO World Cup that came into effect in 2025 and will directly affect the start of the next season.
Few teams can boast the track record and tradition of the BMC MTB Team in international XCO. Their current roster includes some of the most relevant names of the last decade, such as the French Loana Lecomte, Jordan Sarrou, and Titouan Carod, along with the Swiss Luke Wiedmann.

However, last season was far from what was expected. The team accumulated several withdrawals and very delayed results in various events, a negative dynamic that was directly reflected in the UCI team ranking. The BMC MTB Team finished the year in 26th place, far from the Top 15 that guarantees an automatic spot to compete in all rounds of the XCO World Cup 2026.
With the new regulations in hand, teams that fall outside that Top 15 depend on the five wildcards that the organization can grant at its discretion. The BMC MTB Team is undoubtedly one of the natural candidates due to its history, structure, and sporting quality, but as of today, its full presence in the World Cup is not guaranteed.
If they do not receive a wildcard as a team, the alternative would be to participate in events through individual invitations or based on the sporting merits of each rider, a much more complex situation for a structure of this level.
According to current forecasts, the organization will announce the World Teams for the XCO World Cup in approximately two weeks. It will be then that it will be confirmed whether the BMC MTB Team receives one of the coveted wildcards or if it will have to face a 2026 full of uncertainties, despite debuting one of the most recognizable kits in the XCO peloton.
