A new gravel Specialized appears in Scotland and is completely different from the current Crux
The competition gravel continues to accelerate its evolution, and this weekend a bicycle has appeared that is already generating a lot of buzz. During The Gralloch, one of the most important gravel events on the British calendar, the Specialized Off-Road Racing team competed with a completely new model that could anticipate the next generation of the Specialized Crux or perhaps a new model in the brand's catalog. So far, there has been no official announcement from Specialized, but the images captured during the race suggest a profound change compared to the current Crux.
Specialized reveals a new gravel bike in Scotland and has already won
The bicycle was seen under Geerike Schreurs, the winner of the women's event, and although the setup was partially camouflaged in black and white, several details allow for some fairly clear conclusions. The most striking aspect is that the frame seems to have made a clear leap towards much more aerodynamic solutions, something that has not been a priority in the current Crux.

A gravel bike much more aerodynamic than the current Crux
The current generation of the Crux has always focused on lightness and a very minimalist aesthetic, with relatively classic tubes, a round seat post, and part of the wiring still visible. However, the bike seen in Scotland completely changes that philosophy.

The images show dropped rear stays, a clearly aerodynamic seat post, and a fully integrated cockpit with internal wiring, very much in line with the latest road bikes from the brand. The whole setup resembles more a gravel reinterpretation of the Specialized Tarmac SL7 than the Crux we currently know.

Although it is not clearly visible in the current images, it seems, and it would be logical, that it has also gained tire clearance. The current Crux officially declares a maximum clearance of 47 mm, but everything points to a larger clearance for this new model.

Although Specialized has not confirmed anything at all, the timing of this bicycle's appearance does not seem coincidental. We did not see any trace of it at the last Traka, perhaps the most media-covered gravel event in Europe, and it has made its appearance at The Gralloch, another of the major showcases of competitive gravel in Europe but with less media attention. Furthermore, it arrives just a few weeks before Unbound Gravel, the most important race in the world in this discipline.

In recent years, many brands have taken advantage of this event to present new bikes and components aimed at gravel racing, so it would not be surprising if Specialized has some important announcement prepared for late May or early June.
For now, everything is speculation based solely on the images seen during the race, but what seems clear is that Specialized is preparing a significant evolution of its most competitive gravel platform. And looking at the design direction, the next Crux could become one of the most radical and fastest bikes in the segment.
