6.4 kg and ready to fly: Trek launches the new Madone Gen 8 with SRAM 1x transmission
Trek has just unveiled a new ultralight version of its iconic Madone Gen 8, a bike that redefines weight and performance standards. With only 6.40 kg on the scale, including bottle cages, pedals, and a computer mount, this new Madone falls below the minimum weight required by the UCI, reaffirming itself as a competition machine without compromises.
Trek pushes the limits with this ultralight Madone Gen 8
One of the great novelties of this ultralight Madone is the adoption of SRAM 1x drivetrains, a configuration proven at the highest level by the Lidl-Trek team, protagonist of several victories in the 2025 Classics. The American brand offers two options to cyclists:
- Ultralight SRAM 1x12v
- SRAM XPLR 1x13v, with a wider range of gears
Both are designed for those seeking a balance between simplicity, reliability, and low weight.

To achieve this record weight figure, Trek has paid attention to every detail and equipped it with Aeolus RSL 37 wheels, known for their stiffness and lightness, or Pirelli P-Zero RS tires with SmartTube TPU tubes, combining performance and weight savings. In addition, the Matte Deep Smoke paint is an optional finish that further lightens the bike.
As is customary in Trek's high-end models, cyclists can customize their Madone Gen 8 through the Project One program, choosing colors and component configurations. The new options with SRAM 1x drivetrain are already available for customizing the bike, just like the Lidl-Trek professionals.
The new Trek Madone SLR 9 AXS 1x Gen 8 ultralight is now available for sale at official Trek points of sale and can be customized through Project One. A bike designed for those seeking the most advanced in aerodynamics, lightness, and uncompromising performance.
