After checking the list of participants in the XCC and XCO World Championship, we can confirm that all the favorites will be in Andorra and they will arrive in their best form. From current Olympic and world champions like Pauline Ferrand Prevot and Tom Pidcock, to serious podium contenders like Haley Batten, Loana Lecomte, Puck Pieterse, Victor Koretzky, or Alan Hatherly.
It's Difficult to Make Predictions in the Short Track
With no notable absences, we already know that making predictions for the Short Track race is difficult. At the starting line, current champions Sam Gaze and Pauline Ferrand Prevot will be present, but the list of potential winners is as extensive as it has been throughout the season.
The British rider Tom Pidcock, the French rider Victor Koretzky, the South African Alan Hatherly, or the German Lucas Scharzbauer along with the New Zealander Sam Gaze could be safe bets for the XCC World Championship podium. In the women's category, the Dutch rider Puck Pieterse will be a top favorite alongside the French rider Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, but the British rider Evie Richards or the American Gwendalyn Gibson could also be fighting for top positions.
The XCO World Championship will be the most competitive race of the season
The XCO World Championship will take place on Sunday and it will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting races of the season.
In the men's race, the British rider Tom Pidcock has already shown to be at a much higher level than the rest, but it remains to be seen if he will maintain high motivation after winning gold in Paris and stating that he doesn't want to dedicate as much time to MTB in 2025. The French rider Victor Koretzky showed to be in one of the best form peaks of his career a few weeks ago, and it wouldn't be surprising if he seeks a rainbow jersey in Andorra to confirm it. The South African Alan Hatherly and the Swiss rider Mathias Fluckiger are safe bets, but we shouldn't overlook Nino Schurter either. The 10-time world champion has been preparing thoroughly for this event after the Olympics, and although he didn't show his best version in Paris, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him fighting for victory.
The women's XCO World Championship will see Pauline Ferrand-Prevot as the top contender to beat. Additionally, this will be one of the last MTB races for the French rider, who has already confirmed her signing with Visma-Lease a Bike for 2025. Her compatriot Loana Lecomte could be one of her main rivals. Only a fall stopped Lecomte at the Olympics, and her form should be intact for Andorra. But so will the Dutch rider Puck Pieterse, who will have to see how she arrives after competing in the women's Tour, the American Haley Batten, or the British rider Evie Richards.
