We tried the Gobik Avert: you only need some shoe covers and these are them
The final part of winter has been rainy in the Iberian Peninsula and although the experience of riding a bike has not been the best, the truth is that it has given us the opportunity to thoroughly test a lot of rain and cold gear. The Gobik Avert shoe covers have been one of our essentials these days and here we bring you our feelings about them.
We test the Gobik Avert shoe covers: very resistant and relentless against cold and light rain
If you have ever felt how the cold or water starts to "seep" through your feet and ends up ruining your ride, you surely know how important and difficult it is to keep this area weatherproof. Today we bring you our test with the Gobik Avert shoe covers, a garment for road cycling, gravel, or MTB that surprised us with its aesthetics and has won us over with its functionality and versatility.
From the first moment, the Avert shoe covers convey positive sensations. And it is when you put them on that you understand how their structured pattern in two sections improves the fit and ergonomics, allowing the shoe cover to adapt well to different shoe shapes without creating tension points. In addition, the elasticity of the fabric facilitates placement, and the back zipper makes putting them on and taking them off quick and easy, which is key when you're in a hurry before heading out.

The base is made of 3mm reinforced neoprene, which provides an excellent thermal barrier against the cold. This is complemented by vulcanized rubber reinforcements on the toe, sides, and sole, designed to better withstand continuous rubbing when walking or resting the foot on gravel or MTB routes. In addition, the sole openings are finished with Kevlar thread, a detail that enhances resistance to wear.
The closure system is simple but effective: a velcro adjustment along with a reflective thermosealed side zipper that facilitates placement and improves sealing against moisture. The PVC reinforced heel and the extended height shaft complete the set, providing stability, support, and greater protection against the cold rising from the asphalt.
During our tests, with temperatures below 5°C, fog, wind, and water, the thermal protection has been very effective. The feet remained dry and with a good thermal sensation even on long rides. In scenarios with light or intermittent rain, the waterproofing was adequate. Only in situations of constant and prolonged rain can some moisture seep in, without compromising comfort completely.
After intensive use in real winter conditions - wet asphalt, damp soil, gravel paths, and mud - the shoe covers still look impeccable. The zippers maintain their perfect operation, and the seams and reinforced areas show no signs of premature fatigue.
The outer fabric cleans easily, and has not lost elasticity or thermal properties after several washes. Details that confirm that we are dealing with a durable product.
In conclusion, the Gobik Avert shoe covers more than fulfill their purpose. They are effective against cold, wind, and rain, fit precisely, and offer a durability bonus that is appreciated during prolonged use. A must-have technical accessory for those who do not give up on riding when the weather is not favorable.
The Gobik Avert Black shoe covers are available in three Unisex sizes (S, M, and L) and have a price of 59€ on the official Gobik store.
