The long-awaited upgrade: SRAM optimizes speed on the Eagle AXS
SRAM has taken a key step in the evolution of its electronic mountain bike drivetrains with the arrival of a new firmware that improves the user experience of AXS T-Type groups. Update 2.53.1, now available in the AXS app, allows for significantly faster shifts, an aspect that had generated some criticism among its users.

SRAM AXS T-Type drivetrains update silently and are now faster
Since its debut, the SRAM Transmission platform has demonstrated strength and reliability, but some users agreed that shift speed was not its strong point. This was further highlighted with the recent introduction of Shimano XTR Di2 groups, where shift speed is a key feature.

Now, SRAM eliminates that weakness with this new firmware. The experience now approaches the agility of XPLR AXS groups, highly appreciated for their speed, but in a mountain biking environment where mechanical demands are much higher. The update is simple: just enter the AXS app, connect the components, and update each one individually.
Beyond the feeling of immediacy, this step confirms that the limitation in shift speed was not in the design of the cassettes or derailleur, as speculated, but in the internal management of the derailleur. The software now recognizes the derailleur position more accurately and synchronizes the movement to optimize the shift. In practice, this results in a more responsive drivetrain.

From now on, any cyclist with an AXS T-Type group can benefit from this update, which represents a significant improvement for one of the most highly rated drivetrains on the market.
