The segment of cycling computers adds a new player with clear aspirations to compete against the market leaders. Xcadey, known until now for its power meters and its association with teams like Euskaltel-Euskadi, has presented its first GPS device with an approach that combines advanced features and a price well below that of the most established models.

Xcadey enters the cycling computer market with an ambitious proposal and a competitive price

The Chinese manufacturer Xcadey has taken advantage of the Taipei Bike Show to present its new device, and according to information published by BikeRadar, it will be a cycling computer with high-end features aimed at a broader audience due to its price.

The new Xcadey device will be supported by an operating system based on Android, a somewhat unusual decision for this type of product that shapes much of its approach. This foundation allows for a smooth experience, with a screen response more akin to that of a mobile phone than to traditional cycling computers.

The device features a 3.2-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The image quality promises good visibility while in motion and also includes physical buttons that facilitate navigation in more demanding situations.

One of the most interesting aspects of this architecture is the ability to integrate applications directly into the device.

In terms of functionality, the Xcadey cycling computer will include offline maps based on OpenStreetMap, allowing users to plan routes and navigate without the need for a mobile connection. Additionally, it is compatible with multiple positioning systems such as GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou, which should translate into greater accuracy in activity tracking.

The device is also compatible with common cycling sensors, placing it on par with the most widespread models in terms of connectivity with power meters, heart rate monitors, or speed and cadence sensors.

Xcadey claims an approximate battery life of 20 hours, a figure that aligns with many current devices designed for both training and long routes or ultra-distance events. The IP67 certification ensures resistance to dust and water, reinforcing its use in adverse conditions.

One of the key points of this launch is its economic positioning. And although the final price has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to be around 150 euros, a significantly lower figure than that of equivalent models from brands like Garmin or Wahoo.

This approach is reminiscent of the strategy followed by other emerging brands like Bryton or Magene, offering a very competitive quality-price ratio.

The launch is scheduled for this summer, at which point it will be possible to assess whether this proposal truly manages to alter the balance of an increasingly competitive segment.
