The XCO World Champion will continue competing with an electronic-free bicycle, for now
At the presentation of Alan Hatherly's signing by the Giant Factory Off-Road 2025, we had the opportunity to see for the first time what the World Champion's mountain bike will look like for the upcoming season. A Giant Anthem Advanced 29 that already sports the rainbow colors and in which he repeats some of the setup with which he won last year.

This is the Giant Anthem Advanced 29 World Champion edition that Alan Hatherly will compete with in 2025
The Giant Anthem Advanced 29 was introduced in 2022 with a deep renovation of the model and the brand did not hesitate to proclaim it as the XC with the lightest full suspension frame on the market, its weight is below 1.8kg with the shock included. To achieve this, they opted to replace the Maestro technology with a rear suspension monopivot system called FlexPoint Pro by the brand.
For 2025, the model is well established and in competition it already has numerous victories in the World Cup and other international races. But now its level of popularity is about to skyrocket as it becomes the mountain bike that the XCO World Champion Alan Hahterly will ride in 2025.
For Hahterly, this is a new bike but, as is already known, the South African is very meticulous in adjusting his bikes so we have no doubt that he will use these first months of the season to fine-tune the setup of his new Anthem Advanced 29.

Giant has not hesitated to customize the World Champion's model to the maximum and both the frame and the fork have been customized with a white base highlighted by faded rainbow colors.

As for his setup, Hatherly sticks with the FOX-Shimano combo for suspension and transmission/brakes, but this year with 110/100mm travel front and rear. And he rides Giant XCR 1 30 carbon wheels with Maxxis Aspen tires.
It is curious that in a time where mountain biking seems to have been taken over by electronics, the World Champion of the discipline continues to compete with a model free of it, but it would not surprise us if this changed in the coming months. All signs point to Shimano and FOX making significant moves in that direction this year.
