The uncertainty about the impact on La Vuelta due to the protests against the genocide that Israel is perpetrating in the Gaza Strip has led the cyclists to gather to make a joint decision on how to approach the remaining stages from here to Sunday, when the race concludes on the streets of Madrid. The unanimous decision is to continue.

Unless a serious incident occurs, La Vuelta will continue to Madrid

During the rest day, rumors began to circulate that perhaps La Vuelta 2025 would not be able to finish due to the protests against Israel that have been increasing in intensity, leading, yesterday, to have to move the finish line 8 kilometers earlier than planned due to protesters blocking the final ascent.

In fact, on that rest day, L'Equipe even published that La Vuelta was considering not holding the final stage in Madrid due to the multiple demonstrations scheduled for that day, although the organization quickly denied that aspect and the French media removed the news from its website. However, after yesterday's events, this possibility is back on the table and a hot weekend is expected both in Saturday's stage along the Sierra de Guadarrama and on Sunday in the streets of Madrid.

As expected, the cyclists themselves also wanted to have a say in these options and after the team meeting that took place at the end of yesterday's stage, the unanimous decision is to continue until the last day unless a serious incident occurs that requires the suspension of the competition.

Aside from the protests at the finish line yesterday, teams have complained that, in the final part of the race, tacks were thrown on the road, perhaps the cause of the puncture that Jonas Vingegaard suffered on the penultimate climb and forced him to change bikes with one of his teammates.

Meanwhile, the UCI continues to dodge the issue, and does not consider intervening in any decision regarding the race or, likewise, the continuity of the Israel-PremierTech team, the ultimate target of the protests directed against La Vuelta.

In any case, for the time trial stage in Valladolid and, especially, the two stages of the weekend, a police reinforcement is planned to ensure the safety of the race but also the legitimate right to protest, as stated by the Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid.
