The production of bicycles in Spain continues to decline
Poor data for the cycling industry in Spain at the close of 2025, with a significant drop in national bicycle production. A production capacity that does not correspond with the high level of consumption that the cycling market manages to generate.

Bicycle production does not keep pace with the Spanish cycling market
Despite the fact that the cycling market in Spain enjoys reasonably good health, despite the ups and downs of recent years, the vast majority of bikes that travel our roads, cities, and paths are imported products. The national production not only fails to meet the significant demand but, at the close of 2025, the decline in production is disheartening.
Bicycle production in Spain fell by 8.1% in 2025, a figure that is even more serious when we look at the production of electric bicycles, which plummeted by 21.4%. A total of 284,707 traditional bicycles and 1,358 electric bicycles came out of national factories throughout 2025. These figures place the production of electric bicycles in Spain at something almost testimonial, accounting for barely 0.47% of production, despite being a market on the rise due to the increasing relevance of bicycles as a sustainable means of transport.

This amount of bikes manufactured in Spain in 2025 represents a market value of 233 million euros, 10 million less than those produced in 2024. This figure is even more serious considering that the average value of the units produced has remained stable.
These figures contrast with the more than 1 million bikes sold in our country in 2024, the last year for which figures are available, of which more than 190,000 were e-bikes. Numbers that clearly demonstrate the size of the Spanish market, which national production fails to supply adequately.
