The new BMC Teammachine SLR 01 is here, the latest pure climbing bike
If a bike has known how to maintain its essence from its beginnings to the 5th generation that is now presented, that is the BMC Teammachine SLR 01, a competition machine with climbing in its genetics from its first version and that has known how to adapt to the times, even being a pioneer in incorporating small doses of aerodynamics or in the complete cable routing from end to end. This new version of the Teammachine SLR 01 takes lightness to the limit without losing the fantastic dynamic qualities that make it, despite no longer being in the front line of the peloton, still a tremendously desired bike.
BMC redefines gravity by lightening its new Teammachine SLR 01 to the limit
With the rise of aerolight bikes, bikes purely designed for climbing have been somewhat sidelined in front of competition models that must perform well in all terrains. Even some top-level brands like Specialized or Trek have opted to leave only one competition model in their catalog.
However, the sensations transmitted by a super-light and tremendously rigid bike when we stand on the pedals on a steep ramp are too addictive to give up. At least that's what the BMC engineers must have thought, who continue to maintain the climbing essence and fully recognizable lines in their renewed Teammachine SLR 01.

In this new generation of the Teammachine SLR 01, BMC has focused essentially on weight reduction, taking advantage of the best carbons and resins that have appeared since its last version and the knowledge acquired in finite element modeling that has allowed them to refine the frame lamination to the maximum to achieve nothing less than a 16% improvement, with the painted frame in size 54 weighing just 700 grams, that is, 222 grams less than its predecessor. A weight reduction that also reaches elements such as the seatpost or the fork.
Even before the concept of aerolight bikes existed, BMC was already a pioneer in introducing certain aerodynamic details in its Teammachine SLR 01, being one of the first bikes to have a seatpost with a D-shaped profile, one of the first bikes to route the cables inside the head tube, or to design the disc brake mount so that the calipers interfere as little as possible. Now, this new version delves into those small details with a redesign of the head tube to reduce the frontal area exposed to the wind.
Despite these improvements to update the Teammachine SLR 01 and keep it up to date, BMC has taken great care to preserve the main quality that has always characterized this bike. We are talking about its behavior on the road, as it is one of the most balanced bikes we know, offering a tremendously noble and intuitive handling that is also effective. These qualities are hidden in the refined geometry of this Teammachine SLR 01 that the Swiss brand has kept unchanged, while also maintaining the TCC concept that establishes flex zones in its rear triangle to provide a vertical flex of 14 mm that translates into comfort and precision when cornering.
A small evolution that serves to keep this Teammachine SLR 01 up to date with details such as the wheel clearance that allows for tires up to 32 mm and, in turn, makes one of the most coveted road bikes much more efficient for those looking for a new bike.
