The Cape Epic 2025 starts with Braidot-Avondetto and Langvad-Gómez dominating the Prologue
The Cape Epic 2025 has started with an exciting prologue time trial on the demanding 27 km circuit with 750 meters of positive elevation in Merendal Wine State, located just 20 minutes from Cape Town. The stage left the Wilier-Vittoria pair, formed by Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto, and the Toyota Specialized pair, formed by Anika Langvad and Sofia Gomez, as the main protagonists of the day by setting the best times in the men's and women's race.
Wilier-Vittoria is the fastest, Honeycomb 226ers surprises
In the men's race, the Italian team Wilier-Vittoria delivered an impeccable performance in this prologue, beating the Scott-SRAM MTB Racing team of Nino Schurter and Filippo Viero Colombo by just 20 seconds. Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto set the best time on the circuit with 1:00:05.
The surprise of the day was the third place of the local team Honeycomb 226ers, formed by Marc Pritzen and Wessel Botha, who finished with a time of 1:00:49, 1:04 minutes behind the first place.

In the women's category, the Toyota | Specialized team, formed by the legendary Annika Langvad and Sofia Gomez Villafane, took the victory by a narrow margin with a time of 1:12:33. Just 3 seconds later, the e-FORT x ChemChamp pair of Margot Moschetti and Samara Sheppard crossed the finish line.
The podium was completed by Efficient Infiniti SCB SRAM, composed of Vera Looser and Alexis Skarda with a time of 1:13:49, 1:16 minutes behind the first place.
