Flèche Wallonne 2025: how to watch for free, schedules and favorites
After the first spectacular chapter experienced in the Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne seeks to crown once again the most explosive cyclist in the peloton and, at the same time, will offer us a new opportunity to witness a duel between Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel, obviously with the permission of other cyclists capable of shining on the Wall of Huy like Tom Pidcock.
Pogacar and Evenepoel once again measure their strengths. Favorites to win Flèche Wallonne
Despite its great tradition, it has become in recent times a kind of training ground for the Liege-Bastogne-Liege race. In any case, no one will turn down the opportunity to add the victory on the Wall of Huy that crowns La Flèche Wallonne to their palmares.
As we have said on other occasions, with Tadej Pogacar in the race, he automatically becomes the top favorite for victory despite the fact that, after what was seen in the Amstel Gold Race, the cobblestone classics seem to be weighing on him and he no longer shows the freshness he exhibited in the Tour of Flanders. In any case, the outcome of Fleche Wallonne on the Wall of Huy is a short-lived effort, very intense indeed, but ultimately just a few minutes, a facet where the explosiveness of Tadej Pogacar gives him a good chance of winning the race that he already conquered in 2023.

The fact that Remco Evenepoel has decided to play the two races in which he has competed this season in a sprint, one successfully, speaks volumes about the confidence the Belgian has in his sprinting abilities. The toughness of the Wall of Huy may not be the best terrain for the Soudal-QuickStep rider but, with the form he has been showing, he must be included among the contenders for victory in Fleche Wallonne despite the fact that, in his only participation in this race, in 2022, he could only finish in 40th place.
The same goes for Tom Pidcock. His explosiveness and lightweight cyclist characteristics make him an ideal contender for victory on the Wall of Huy, and yet the British rider has not achieved any relevant positions in the four occasions he has taken part in the race.
In any case, the transitional nature of the race towards Liege and the peculiar finish, makes it not surprising that victory could fall to any other cyclist in great form who manages to position themselves well on the Wall of Huy, essential for victory in this race, and withstand the maximum intensity in the agonizing minutes in which the race is decided. That is why we could also see victories from cyclists like Marc Hirschi, Ben O'Connor, or, why not, an Alex Aranburu for whom the finish in Huy also suits him perfectly.
Flèche Wallonne 2025 Route
Fleche Wallonne 2025 maintains the same format as in recent years, focused mainly on the final circuit around Huy. Before that, the race will have started in the town of Ciney, halfway between Huy and Namur, to travel through the rugged south of Wallonia towards Bastogne and then head north towards Huy. The first half of the 205 kilometers of this Fleche Wallonne, as an appetizer, the cyclists will have to climb the Ver and Pettit Somme hills which should serve to give shine to the likely breakaway of the day.
The last 100 kilometers are marked by three laps of a circuit that has already become traditional in the Fleche Wallonne and includes the climbs to the Ereffe and Cherave hills as a prelude to the tough Wall of Huy. Once again, there will be those who try to break the race on these climbs although, as has been usual for decades, it is most likely that the final ascent to the Wall of Huy will decide the winner of the race.
