Strava presents news: its new AI returns stolen KOMs to their rightful owners
Strava announced this week an update with important news aimed especially at its subscribers. These improvements aim to optimize training, facilitate the exploration of new routes, and ensure the fairest competition possible.
Strava launches its big summer update
As usual, the popular platform Strava tends to release a significant update before the summer months. This time, it comes with a series of AI-driven innovations.
A more intuitive exploration
The Routes tool has been improved thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence that uses Strava's Global Heatmap to offer more precise and realistic route suggestions. The platform ensures that this novelty will allow athletes to find routes anywhere in the world as if they already knew the terrain. It is also now possible to generate custom routes directly from the Maps tab in real-time, either from the current location or a specific starting point.
Additionally, starting in June, users will be able to click on cafes, viewpoints, or rest stops on the map to get detailed information such as distance, estimated time, or elevation, accompanied by images shared by other community members.

Furthermore, the point-to-point route function is significantly simplified with the new update, which from July will allow for efficient routes between two points simply by tapping on the map, automatically adapting to the selected activity type.
Increased competitiveness and fairer rankings
Strava reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a transparent and legitimate competition. In this sense, the platform has doubled the number of live segments available globally, allowing athletes to pursue their best times with more information and additional comparative metrics available exclusively to subscribers.
On the other hand, Strava has strengthened its mechanisms to ensure fair rankings through an artificial intelligence model capable of detecting incorrect or fraudulent activities. Since its initial implementation in February, this system has already eliminated 4.45 million inappropriate records, ensuring that KOMs and QOMs are awarded exclusively to athletes who truly deserve them.
These improvements mark a significant advancement in Strava's commitment to providing intelligent tools and an optimized experience to athletes worldwide during the summer season.
