Evenepoel breaks his contract with Soudal-QuickStep and signs with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe
This is one of the big signings of the year. The Olympic champion and one of the big figures in the international peloton will leave Soudal-QuickStep at the end of the 2025 season, a year before his contract expired, to become the new leader of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe from 2026. Both teams have officially confirmed the operation this Tuesday, putting an end to months of intense rumors and speculations.
Despite having a contract in force until the end of 2026, Evenepoel has reached an agreement with his current team to obtain an early termination. "Remco's representatives informed the team management that they did not wish to negotiate an extension of the current agreement, which expired at the end of 2026", explained Soudal-QuickStep in a statement. After consulting with sponsors and partners, the team considered that the best for all parties was to facilitate his departure.

On the other hand, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe has not hidden its enthusiasm. "Remco represents ambition. He not only wants to race, he wants to shape cycling", declared Ralph Denk, manager of the German team. "He brings not only exceptional athletic talent, but also an amazing mentality. His determination, professionalism, and tireless desire to improve are truly inspiring".
Evenepoel's arrival is part of a profound transformation of the German team, supported since 2024 by Red Bull as the main sponsor. The signing of the Belgian, together with the likely addition of national coach Sven Vanthourenhout to the technical staff, confirms the intention to turn the team into a true superpower in world cycling.
His signing with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe marks a new chapter in his career, this time as the main leader of an ambitious project where he will initially share leadership with Primo? Rogli? and Florian Lipowitz.
