Pogacar will be in La Vuelta 2025
It was an open secret but the lack of confirmation kept the uncertainty about the possible presence of Tadej Pogacar in La Vuelta 2025. Now, statements from his director Mauro Gianetti put an end to the speculations and confirm the number one's presence in the Spanish tour.
Tadej Pogacar will seek his first red jersey in La Vuelta starting on August 23rd
In statements after yesterday's stage, Marco Gianetti, the technical director of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, after being asked for the umpteenth time about Tadej Pogacar's presence in La Vuelta a España 2025, was decisive and closed the topic with a succinct "La Vuelta is on his calendar".

Until now, the team had always maintained that they would wait to see how the Tour de France unfolded before making a decision about the Slovenian's participation in La Vuelta, but it seems that the decision was already made in advance. In this way, Tadej Pogacar will face one of his pending tasks in cycling in a race in which he has not participated since his debut back in 2019, where he left us his first great feat in a tremendous ride through the lands of Ávila in a stage full of mountains on the way to the Gredos Platform.
A race that is shaping up as ideal preparation for the World Championships in Rwanda, one of the toughest in recent years due to its demanding route and the altitude at which Kigali, the capital of that country, is located.
Tadej Pogacar's participation also adds the finishing touch to a truly luxurious lineup that this season will give us a second great showdown between him and Jonas Vingegaard, to which we must add other top-level names such as Mikel Landa, who will presumably take part after the serious fall he suffered in the Giro; Richard Carapaz, who was absent shortly before the start of the Tour due to an infection; and Tom Pidcock, who will have to justify the invitation to Q36.5 when traditionally these spots had been occupied by Spanish teams.
