In the final stages, Pablo Rodríguez and Miguel Muñoz stood out from the rest and played for the title in the last laps. However, an untimely mishap by Muñoz, who suffered a fall a few meters from the finish line, cleared the way for Rodríguez to cross the finish line alone, thus signing his first national elite marathon title, after years of pursuing it in both XCO and XCM.
Miguel Muñoz, visibly affected, arrived walking to the finish line with his bike on his shoulders, achieving a commendable second position. The podium was completed by Francisco Herrero, while in the sub23 category the victory went to Adrián Benedito, followed by Jaume Muñoz and Javier González.
Fischer dominates solo and returns to the top of the national podium
The women's race was resolved with less uncertainty. From the first kilometers, Natalia Fischer set a relentless pace that none of her rivals could follow. By the 50-kilometer mark, the advantage over Tessa Kortekaas, her closest pursuer, was already around a minute.
Fischer not only maintained the difference, but extended it to the finish line, thus reclaiming the national throne after a period away from her best form. The Dutch Kortekaas took the second position and Pilar Fernández closed the podium with a solid third place. In the sub23 category, the title went to María Reyes, with Carmen Martín and Paula Martín as second and third respectively.
