New BMC URS 2025: a gravel bike with MTB spirit
The Swiss manufacturer BMC has just updated its most adventurous gravel model, the BMC URS 2025. A new version in which the geometry has been completely updated to get closer than ever to MTB. In addition, it adds suspension power and fork to its particular rear micro-suspension system MTT.
New BMC URS 2025, a gravel bike with MTB spirit
In BMC's gravel catalog, we find the Kaius model for those looking to go as fast as possible and the URS (UnReStricted) model for adventure. In this new version of the URS, the brand has enhanced more than ever the off-road capabilities of the model with a range of 4 models that includes the brand's first electric gravel bike.
Key features of the new BMC URS
- Carbon frame with geometry adopted from mountain biking and clearance for up to 47mm tires
- Four versions of the new URS
- Rear micro-suspension MTT (10mm of travel) for models 01, 01 LT, and AMP LT
- Fork with MTT x HiRide suspension (20mm of travel via spring), only in models 01 LT and AMP LT
- MTT stem with 20mm elastomer suspension
- Internal storage in the downtube
- Compatible with dropper posts
- The new BMC URS 2020 ranges from €3,799 to €11,999
Do the suspensions of the new BMC URS work?
This model features a rear absorption system called MTT which consists of an elastomer placed between the seatstays and the seat tube of the frame. It is an effective system with a real travel of 10mm.

In addition, some models of the new BMC URS incorporate the MTT stem with RedShift ShockStop suspension system that tilts up to 20mm using two internal elastomers, while others have the fork with MTT x HiRide suspension which offers another 20mm of travel through a central spring.
The MTT stem and MTT fork are not compatible with each other and therefore will not be found mounted together on any model in the range.
These are 3 very tested systems that really provide effective suspension solutions for riding on rough roads for many kilometers, increasing the adventurous capabilities of this URS.
MTB Geometry, 4 versions of the new BMC URS, and an electric model
At first glance, the four versions of the new BMC URS look the same, and the main difference is found in their rear suspension system. The standard BMC URS is the only one that does not have it and opts for a completely rigid frame.
The geometry is practically the same for all of them, with measurements adopted from MTB being the ones that contribute the most capabilities to the model. The brand calls it Gravel Fit, a combination of long reach, relaxed head angle (69.5°), shorter stems, lower bottom bracket, and long 403mm chainstays. All of this translates into more stability at high speeds and on technical terrain, as well as increased comfort.
In addition to the 3 mechanical versions, with various builds among them, BMC introduces the electric gravel bike with the BMC URS AMP LT.
This assisted version adds the compact and powerful TQ-HPR50 motor. Along with a 360 Wh battery, this unit weighing only 1850 g offers a maximum torque of 50 Nm and 300 watts of maximum power. This will allow tackling any gravel route while optimizing its autonomy thanks to its lightweight.
