Milan takes a lively final stage led by Van der Poel, and Del Toro is crowned champion of the Tirreno-Adriatico 2026
The Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 concluded in San Benedetto del Tronto with a script that ended up meeting expectations: the seventh and final stage, contested between Civitanova Marche and San Benedetto del Tronto (142 km), was resolved in a massive sprint where the Italian Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) once again demonstrated his power to achieve victory. The Mexican Isaac del Toro fulfilled his role and takes the overall victory of the Tirreno-Adriatico 2026
Jonathan Milan wins the final sprint of the Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 after a day marked by Van der Poel
Although the profile suggested a fast finish, the day had moments of great intensity in its first half. The initial breakaway was formed by Xabier Mikel Azparren, Roberto Carlos González, and Dries De Bondt, who managed to gain several minutes of advantage while the sprinter teams kept the situation under control.
The most explosive moment came on the climb to Ripatransone when Mathieu van der Poel accelerated strongly from the peloton. The Dutchman caused a significant selection and even temporarily broke the main group, leaving several prominent sprinters cut off. For several kilometers, he maintained a very high pace at the front of a reduced group of favorites, in what seemed like a move to toughen the race and test sensations for the upcoming classics.
However, after the descent and the arrival at the coastal area, the peloton regrouped and control returned to the teams interested in preparing for the final sprint.

Before the final outcome, there were still relevant movements in the general classification. In one of the intermediate sprints, Team Visma worked for Matteo Jorgenson to secure bonus seconds, allowing him to overtake Giulio Pellizzari and move into second place overall, behind the leader Isaac del Toro, who had the overall victory practically secured.
With the general classification stabilized and the final circuit in San Benedetto del Tronto completely flat, all eyes turned to the sprinter teams.
A few kilometers from the finish, Norwegian Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X) surprised with a solo attack about 7 km from the finish. He managed to open a gap of nearly ten seconds and forced the sprinter teams to organize a quick chase to avoid the surprise.
The Norwegian's attempt added tension to the final kilometers, but the peloton ultimately neutralized the breakaway just before the last kilometer.
The preparation for the final sprint was marked by a crash in one of the last corners that took two of the day's important names out of contention: Jasper Philipsen and Paul Magnier.

With several rivals out of contention, the Lidl-Trek train executed a very solid lead-out. Edward Theuns launched the sprint from far for Jonathan Milan, who started first and maintained his powerful acceleration to the finish line without anyone being able to catch him. The Italian achieved his third consecutive victory in San Benedetto del Tronto, confirming his dominance in this classic finish of the Italian race.
Isaac del Toro wins the Tirreno-Adriatico 2026
The great winner of the Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 has been Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates XRG). The Mexican arrived at the final stage with the general classification practically decided after his solid performance in the previous stages and was able to secure the final triumph in San Benedetto del Tronto. Even a crash in the last kilometers did not jeopardize his victory, as it occurred within the safety zone of the peloton. Thus, Del Toro confirms his great form and claims one of the most prestigious stage races on the WorldTour calendar.
