Jonas Vingegaard is crowned champion of the Paris-Nice 2026 in a final stage won by Lenny Martinez
The Paris-Nice 2026 concluded this Sunday with a demanding final stage starting and finishing in Nice, where Lenny Martinez took the victory after winning a two-man sprint against Jonas Vingegaard, while the Danish rider easily secured his triumph in the overall classification of the race.
Vingegaard closes the Paris-Nice as champion after battling in the final stage with Martinez
The final day, just over 120 kilometers, featured a very selective route with three key climbs: Col de la Porte, Côte de Chateauneuf-Villevieille, and Côte du Linguador, which promised movements among the general classification contenders. Although Vingegaard's lead seemed solid before the start, the terrain offered opportunities for rivals to try to alter the podium positions.
The race heated up in the decisive part of the course. After neutralizing the breakaway from the day before the final ascent to Côte du Linguador, the Visma Lease a Bike team increased the pace in the favorites' group. Victor Campenaerts' earlier work set the stage for Jonas Vingegaard, who launched a decisive move about 20 kilometers from the finish.

The only rider able to respond was Lenny Martinez, who managed to stay on the wheel of the race leader throughout the ascent. Both riders reached the summit together and opened a small gap over a chasing group that included riders like Kévin Vauquelin, Harold Tejada, Georg Steinhauser, and Ion Izagirre.
In the descent and the final kilometers, the duo maintained their collaboration and consolidated a half-minute lead over the pursuers. With the stage already decided between them, the victory was resolved in a two-man sprint in Nice.
Martinez was the fastest in the final face-off, thus achieving his first victory of the season, while Vingegaard crossed the line immediately after, also sealing his overall triumph in the race.

Vingegaard dominates the overall classification
The Danish rider from Visma Lease a Bike proved to be the strongest rider of the week and confirmed his dominance in the overall classification of the “Race of the Sun.” With his performance in the last days, two stage victories, and the advantages accumulated in previous stages, Vingegaard secured the final triumph without his rivals being able to threaten the yellow jersey.
