Hutchinson expands the options of its Blackbird tires with two new versions
Race and All Season, the two new options for Hutchinson Blackbird tires, the current top of the range of the French brand that expand the options of the standard model found in their catalog towards the competitive side and, on the other hand, looking for durable and puncture-resistant tires that do not compromise on excellent performance.
Hutchinson consolidates its top-of-the-range Blackbird tires with two new models
After the launch a year ago of their Blackbird tires, Hutchinson continues to delve into this model with two new versions to satisfy both the user looking for maximum tire performance and those who prioritize resistance and durability.
First, we have the new Hutchinson Blackbird Race tires which, as the name suggests, are oriented towards competition. For this, the French brand has put the Blackbird tires we already knew on a diet that starts with the new Ultraswift casing which reduces its thickness and, consequently, its weight by a whopping 22%.

A tubeless casing, also compatible with hookless rims, constructed using a 127 TPI density weave that is solidly woven with a central polyamide layer that acts as anti-puncture.
The rubber compound, called Match Tread Ultimate, is also new and, according to the brand's data, improves on the previous one in both rolling resistance and grip. By the way, in the various tests carried out by Hutchinson, many of them by the cyclists of Intermarché-Wanty whom the brand began sponsoring a few months ago for this season, the 30 mm version is more efficient than the 28 mm, further emphasizing the trend of mounting tires with larger volume.
These tires are made in France and, in the 700x28c version, weigh an incredible 240 g for a tubeless tire of this size. These tires will have a price of €79.99, initially only available in the mentioned 30 and 28 mm versions.
On the other end, we find the Hutchinson Blackbird All Season tires whose name already suggests that their goal is to exceed the 4,000 kilometers of durability that the brand claimed could be achieved with the Blackbird tires we knew last year.
They use the same Match Tread 3.0 rubber compound used in the standard Blackbird tires in the central part of the tread and a compound called Safetread on the sides to maximize grip, especially in wet conditions. Additionally, their thickness increases by 2.1 mm which, according to Hutchinson's data, will allow pedaling with them up to 6,000 km.
Continuing with protection, Hutchinson has included in these Blackbird All Season tires their Gridskin technology, previously only used in very specific models, which adds extra protection to the sides of these tires.
Obviously, this extra protection means an increase in weight that raises the scale to 340 g, 100 more than its more competitive counterpart, for the 700x28c version. Speaking of sizes, they will also be available in 30 mm and 32 mm, options that some Intermarché-Wanty cyclists will surely use for the cobbled classics. Additionally, these All Season tires can also be found in a conventional version for use with inner tubes and with the option of black or cream-colored sidewalls, with prices starting at €49.99 for the tube version and €69.99 for the tubeless options.
