The desert of Virgin (Utah) once again became the global epicenter of freeride this weekend with the Red Bull Rampage 2025, the most extreme and legendary event in MTB. The 19th edition of the event crowned a new name: Hayden Zablotny, a Canadian rookie only 22 years old who, in his first participation, achieved a victory as unexpected as brilliant.
After a first run with a fall, Zablotny signed a perfect second run that earned him 96.00 points, surpassing the veteran Belgian Thomas Genon (94.35) and his compatriot Tom Van Steenbergen (94.00). With this, he became the first debutant to win the Rampage since Brandon Semenuk, a feat that places him directly among the great names of the global freeride.

Zablotny started his descent with a technical double drop directly from the starting platform, followed by two 360 Flatspins, a huge Flat Drop Backflip, a Suicide No-Hander, and a final Opposite 360 Flatspin that lifted the audience from their seats. His line, sculpted with his small team of diggers, was also recognized with the Digger Award for its creativity and difficulty.
Local Jaxson Riddle took home the GoPro Moment and Best Trick awards thanks to a spectacular Backflip Heel Clicker, while Genon and Van Steenbergen completed the podium with two runs full of style and precision that confirmed the event's enormous equality.
The Spanish participation in the Rampage 2025 left mixed feelings. Bienvenido Aguado was not lucky and despite having a great line prepared, he could not score due to a fall in which his bike broke in half. But undoubtedly, the worst part was suffered by Adolf Silva, who suffered a terrible fall while attempting a double backflip on a step-down during his second run. The Catalan failed to complete the second rotation and was evacuated by helicopter from the Utah desert after being immediately attended to by the event's medical services. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown, although it seems that he arrived conscious at the hospital and was in communication with his family.

“I just wanted to build something that reflected my style and made me enjoy riding it”, explained Zablotny after the victory. His calmness, technique, and creativity allowed him to conquer the most demanding event on the planet.
Genon, on the other hand, celebrated his first podium in twelve participations: “I have worked so many years for this result... I thought it would never come”. Van Steenbergen, who returned to the podium after several difficult years, acknowledged: “I know this place and its toughness very well, that's why this result means a lot”.
Since its first edition in 2001, the Red Bull Rampage has been the stage where freeride pushes technique, risk, and creativity to the limit. And the 2025 edition confirmed that the new generation has arrived to stay. Zablotny embodies the future of freeride.
