The helmet worn by Kate Courtney, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot or Vingegaard: this is the new Giro Eclipse Pro Aero helmet
The helmet that has allowed cyclists like Jonas Vingegaard and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot to scrape together some valuable watts during the last part of the season, the Giro Eclipse Pro Aero, is being introduced to the public and will be on sale in just a few months.

Giro Eclipse Pro Aero, lightness and aerodynamics come together in the same helmet
Beyond its striking time trial helmets, Giro had fallen a bit behind in terms of aerodynamic helmets for road use. Addressing the needs of sponsored professional cyclists, mainly the members of the Visma-Lease a Bike team, Giro has developed the new Eclipse Pro Aero that it now presents and which has been used by the Dutch team cyclists since the middle of the recently concluded season.

As is often the case in these situations, Giro claims to have created the fastest helmet to date, not counting its chrono models, stating a 17% improvement over the previous Eclipse.
A new Eclipse Pro Aero in which, of course, the brand does not give up its peculiar MIPS Spherical, its characteristic interpretation of this rotational impact protection system that is practically like having two helmets connected by small rubber bands that allow for some degrees of rotation between them. An effective but bulky system that, however, has not prevented Giro from achieving a fantastic weight of just 280 grams for this new Eclipse Pro Aero.

Beyond merely updating the current Eclipse, Giro has completely renewed its lines with intense wind tunnel work and fluid dynamics software simulations to ensure optimal ventilation, undoubtedly the most critical point of aerodynamic models for road use; in fact, this Eclipse Pro Aero features no less than 15 ventilation holes.
A helmet that will be available in mid-February and will be priced around €300.
