The 32" mountain bikes continue to gain ground. Just a week ago, we announced this 32" fork developed practically from scratch, and now the manufacturer Intend has just presented its Samurai 32, a suspension fork that has just gone on sale but we have already seen it before in other projects of this size.

Intend launches its Samurai 32 fork for 32" MTB

The German company had been showing adapted versions of its Samurai XC on bikes like the Actofive I-Train 32, but now it takes the definitive leap with a specific model, designed from the start for this new wheel diameter.

The Samurai 32 maintains the characteristic inverted architecture of Intend, a solution that has facilitated its adaptation to the larger wheel diameter. In this first series, the fork uses machined extensions above the dropouts to gain the necessary space for the 32” wheels. According to the brand itself, future productions will integrate these extensions directly into the dropout design, without added parts.

Beyond this detail, the Samurai 32 is practically identical to the Samurai XC of 29”, opting for a lightweight and precise chassis oriented towards XC and trail.

The new fork is available with travel between 100 and 130 mm, in 10 mm increments, and uses 35 mm stanchions, a figure that is uncommon in XC but consistent with the greater structural demands of 32” wheels.

Intend offers two cartridge configurations:

  • Energizer XC, with a 3-position lockout system.
  • Adapter for RockShox Charger Race Day, which allows for a lighter setup, although it limits the maximum travel to 120 mm (the cartridge is not included).

The declared weight is 1,620 grams, a very contained figure considering the wheel size and the diameter of the stanchions.

As is customary with Intend, the Samurai 32 has been designed, developed, and tested in Freiburg (Germany) and is entirely hand-assembled, one by one. The brand particularly emphasizes aspects such as:

  • Elimination of creaking through the use of high-strength structural adhesives between the crown and tubes
  • Individual adjustment of the bushings for each unit.
  • Perfect alignment of the chassis.
  • Measured lubrication to the milliliter with specific Motorex oils.

A clearly different approach from mass production, aimed at the most exclusive segment of the market.
