Del Toro finishes off Jorgenson and Pellizzari in the toughest finale and seals the Tirreno-Adriatico
Isaac del Toro passed the decisive exam of the Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 with a high-level victory in Camerino. The Mexican won the sixth stage, the queen stage of the race, after resolving a very tough finish with enormous composure, where Giulio Pellizzari and Matteo Jorgenson tried to put him under pressure. They did not succeed. Del Toro responded to everything and finished the final climb with an exact acceleration to secure a victory that reinforces his leadership before the last stage.
Isaac del Toro wins in Camerino with an impeccable finish and leaves the Tirreno-Adriatico ready for judgment
The day, covering 188 kilometers between San Severino Marche and Camerino, was the big day for the general classification. With Sassotetto in the central part of the route and the final circuit featuring several ascents to Camerino, the terrain was designed to select the race through fatigue and decide it on the final slopes. From the start, there was tension, with Wout van Aert very active and also Mathieu van der Poel making his presence felt in the early moves, but the stage ended up concentrating all its importance on the battle among the favorites.
The day's breakaway was formed by Filippo Ganna, Gregor Mühlberger, Vincenzo Albanese, Thomas Silva, Clément Braz Afonso, Timo Kielich, and Walter Calzoni. The group managed to hold an interesting lead on the climb to Sassotetto, but behind, there was never a sense of chaos. The stage was too marked in red to allow for long-term joy, and as the race entered the decisive zone, the gap of the escapees began to fall.

In the peloton, UAE Team Emirates-XRG managed the situation without losing their cool. Del Toro advanced well protected on a day that also saw attempts to disrupt the race before the final pass by the finish line. Richard Carapaz tried to move from afar, and Tudor increased the pace as they approached the final laps, while the group of favorites shrank as the kilometers and accumulated fatigue passed.
The race compressed in the last 20 kilometers. Jan Christen took on an important role at the front of the main group to nullify the last options of the breakaway and set everything up for the final climb to Camerino. By that point, it was already clear that the stage and a good part of the general classification would be resolved among the strong men of the week.
Before the final wall, there was still one more move. Wout van Aert attacked about four kilometers from the finish to anticipate and open the climb with a small lead, in a maneuver that could also benefit Matteo Jorgenson. But the Belgian could not open a sufficient gap and was neutralized just as the steepest ramps began.

There began the true climax. Ben Healy accelerated at the base and further stretched the group, leaving Van Aert behind and forcing all the favorites to enter the red zone. Shortly after, it was Giulio Pellizzari's turn, who launched a very serious attack with about a kilometer and a half to go. The Italian even insisted a second time and managed to open a gap that for a moment seemed threatening for the leader.
But Del Toro did not panic. He waited, regulated, and closed the gap with an ease that completely changed the reading of the climb. When he caught up to Pellizzari, the Mexican had not only neutralized the most dangerous attack at the end but also left the impression of having another gear. Jorgenson was the only one who could stay close to his wheel at that decisive moment.
In the final meters, Del Toro executed the definitive blow. He launched with precision, without an extra gesture, and went straight for a victory of enormous authority. It was a surgical finish: he let the moment of nerves pass, responded just when he needed to, and finished when the rest were already at their limit. Pellizzari, after being the most aggressive on the climb, ended up paying for the effort, while Jorgenson had to settle for following the acceleration without the capacity to contest the victory.
A battle for Azzurra, and a battle for the stage. The @continentaltire Last KM had us all on the edge of our seats.
