The BH Coloma Team faces the Nove Mesto XCO World Cup with an eye on the Olympic Ranking
The BH Coloma Team heads to the XCO World Cup in Nove Mesto this weekend with the goal of securing the Olympic qualification for its two main riders. The team returns to the top competition of XCC and XCO with the hope that Jofre Cullell can join David Valero at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The BH Coloma Team and the dual objective of the XCO World Cup in Nove Mesto
The 2024 XCO World Cup lands in Europe after holding the first two races of the year in Brazilian territory. The European cycle begins in the Czech town of Nove Mesto, one of the most special of the year: the race is already a classic – this will be the fourteenth edition – it is one of the riders' favorite circuits and it is the last race that counts towards Olympic qualification.

David Valero arrives as the team's top favorite after regaining good sensations in recent weeks, during which he managed to win the Shimano Supercup Massi in Baza and delivered a great performance in the European Championship – with a puncture and a remarkable comeback included. The Nove Mesto World Cup presents itself as a new opportunity to continue growing and to make up for the modest results he achieved in Mairipora and Araxá.
The rider from Baza has had his sights set on Paris for some time and the weekend will serve to continue fine-tuning his form for the year's main objective.
The team remains confident that Jofre Cullell will be the other chosen one to represent Spain at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Catalan has gained momentum in the fight for the Olympic spot thanks to the great results he has achieved at the start of the season, to the detriment of David Campos, who has been affected by an infection that has weakened his strength.
The World Cups are of great importance when it comes to selecting the two riders who will wear the national jersey, although at this point the difference in the UCI ranking – Cullell, 1046 points; Campos, 595 points – is significant. The BH Coloma Team rider will seek to continue his great start to the season, keep climbing the rankings, and definitively secure the Olympic ticket.
Carlos Coloma's team will also feature the Portuguese Raquel Queirós – who is also expected to secure the Olympic spot – and Alberto Barroso, who will try to score good points in the men's U23 race. On this occasion, La Nucía BH Coloma Academy will only have Francesc Barber in its ranks.
On the other hand, Sofia Waite continues with her recovery plan after contracting an infection that has kept her out of competition for several weeks, while Hugo Franco and Mónica Estrada are focused with the national team for their upcoming junior series.
