Amazing battle in the Superprestige of Diegem that ends up being won by Tibor del Grosso
The night race of the Superprestige in Diegem never disappoints, as it is one of the circuits with the most paved areas and almost never has mud, allowing us to enjoy cyclocross at the highest level. This time, there was a tremendous duel between Tibor del Grosso and Thibau Nys, along with an incredible comeback from Michael Vanthourenhout, which keeps him alive in the overall standings.

The cyclocross in Diegem once again offers a high-caliber race
The race started with Michael Vanthourenhout in second place overall, just one point behind the leader, Niels Vandeputte, who fell to the ground after being bumped from behind at the start. Looking disheartened, he got back on his bike almost at the same time Tibor del Grosso, taking advantage of the initial confusion, tried to create a gap from the beginning.
However, it would be almost at the end of the lap, when crossing the always decisive sandbank so characteristic of this race, that the Dutch champion accelerated and opened a ten-second gap over his pursuers, among whom was a phenomenally positioned Felipe Orts, who is finding his best form of the season in these Christmas races.

Tibor del Grosso extended his lead during the second lap to the point where it began to seem he would emulate his team leader at Alpecin-Deceuninck until Thibau Nys decided to take matters into his own hands. As they passed through the sand, he was left alone in pursuit, and they began a couple of intensely competitive laps until, finally, halfway through the fifth lap, his effort paid off, and he managed to catch up to Tibor del Grosso's wheel.

Meanwhile, Vanthourenhout began to clock even faster laps than those at the front, and halfway through, he reached 15th place, which marks the points zone, with many cyclists still close by to overtake.
Returning to the duo in command, Nys's effort to catch up took its toll in the sand, where Tibor del Grosso opened a gap again, and the situation repeated itself in the next lap, with Nys catching up only to lose ground again in that decisive stretch. However, in the next lap, the sixth of the nine they had to complete, the tables turned, and it was Nys who crossed the dirt section first.
They then began a lap of marking each other, allowing Joran Wyseure, who had left the company of the chasing group, to catch up to them. This surge created extra tension that forced Felipe Orts into a mistake, causing him to fall and lose any chance of reaching the podium.
However, the best was yet to come in the penultimate lap. Thibau Nys launched an attack on the slope before the sand section, trying to surprise. Forced, Del Grosso made a mistake that forced him to put a foot on the ground while Wyseure clung to the Belgian's wheel. It seemed that the victory would be contested between the two when, in the sand, Nys got caught on one of the stakes marking the circuit, fell to the ground, and Wyseure fell on top of him. With disbelief at the situation, Del Grosso seized the opportunity and crossed the section, opening a gap that would prove decisive.

In the last lap, Thibau Nys desperately tried to catch up again, but halfway through the lap, he physically exploded after the tremendous effort made. Wyseure achieved a second place that he surely could not have imagined at the start of the race.
We also witnessed excitement regarding the overall standings, with Niels Vandeputte losing fourth place to Mees Hendriks right at the finish line, while behind them, like a plane, Michael Vanthourenhout arrived almost alongside the Alpecin-Deceuninck cyclist, thus only conceding one point in the overall standings, leaving the Superprestige a matter for the two of them with only two races left.
