Alpecin-Premier Tech has confirmed its lineup for the 2026 Tour de France with Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen as the main leaders
Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen will once again be the main assets of Alpecin-Premier Tech in the 2026 Tour de France. The Belgian team confirmed its lineup for the Grande Boucle on Monday with a block built around mass arrivals and the pursuit of stage wins, maintaining a formula that has yielded excellent results in recent editions.
Alpecin-Premier Tech repeats its Tour strategy with Van der Poel as its strongest weapon
The team, which this year competes under the name Alpecin-Premier Tech following the arrival of a new sponsor and the name change made during the winter, will head to the start in Barcelona with a very recognizable structure. Philipsen will be the reference for sprints, while Van der Poel will combine his usual role as a lead-out man with the freedom needed to seek his own opportunities in more selective stages.

The complete lineup will consist of Mathieu van der Poel, Jasper Philipsen, Ramses Debruyne, Emiel Verstrynge, Edward Planckaert, Jonas Rickaert, Silvan Dillier, and Tim Marsman.

Van der Poel arrives at the Tour after a very specific preparation focused practically on a single previous competition, the Tour of Switzerland, a strategy designed to arrive fresh for a race in which the Dutchman will once again have multiple roles. Although he will remain a key piece in Philipsen's train, the route also offers him numerous opportunities to fight for stage wins on days with demanding finishes, crosswinds, or favorable scenarios for long-range attacks.
Additionally, the world cyclocross champion will face the race just hours after announcing an important personal news: he and his partner, Roxanne Bertels, are expecting their first child, due in early 2027.
For his part, Philipsen will continue to be the main reference for the team when the stages are decided by sprinting. The Belgian has already accumulated ten stage wins in the Tour de France and won the green jersey in 2023. He also arrives backed by a recent victory in the Copenhagen Sprint and will once again have a trusted core formed by Jonas Rickaert and Edward Planckaert, two key riders in positioning and organizing the lead-outs.
Experience will also be provided by Silvan Dillier, who is usually responsible for controlling breaks and taking on work at the front of the peloton during the most nervous stages. Alongside them are several names that represent renewal within the block.
One of the riders attracting the most attention is Tim Marsman. The Dutchman will compete in his first Tour de France just a year after racing in the continental structure VolkerWessels. His progression this season has earned him a spot on the team after establishing himself as a useful piece in supporting sprints and delivering a standout performance in the recent Dutch Championships.
Also noteworthy are the presences of Emiel Verstrynge and Ramses Debruyne. Verstrynge left a good impression in his debut in the French race last year and in 2026 has made a significant leap in the classics, with a fifth place in the Amstel Gold Race and a fourth position in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Debruyne, for his part, has shown remarkable potential in the mountains, finishing 13th in the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and second in the opening stage of the French event.
Unlike other major teams in the peloton, Alpecin-Premier Tech will not approach the Tour with aspirations in the general classification. Although Van der Poel has already indicated that he will seek to wear yellow again with a strategy that involves executing a great team time trial on the first day and trying to seize the lead in stage 2 with a finish in Montjuic.
