A new completely revamped Scott Addict arrives
During the Tour de France we were talking about how aerodynamic bikes, increasingly lighter until they reach the limits set by the UCI, were stealing all the spotlight in the ranges from climbing models. In fact, several brands had opted to have only one competition model. A trend that Scott also seems to have chosen with the transformation of its new Addict.
The Scott Addict becomes a touring bike that seeks to combine comfort and performance
We have rarely seen such a transformation in the concept with which a bike is built. Up to the version we already knew, the Addict has always been Scott's ultra-light competition bike. But, once these types of bikes are becoming obsolete due to the advantages offered by aerodynamic models, it was time to reconvert it or remove it from the catalog.
Scott has chosen the former, turning its new Addict into a touring-focused model for those who seek to spend long days riding the most demanding routes. This is the road cyclist who does not want to give up good performance and agile handling when descending a mountain pass, and of course, also desires the lightness that has always been highly valued by most cyclists.

How to adjust your bike to avoid injuries and ride more comfortably
As is customary in Scott's top-of-the-line models, this Addict will be available in versions with an HMX frame, weighing just 780 g and even, despite the concessions to comfort and touring practicality, manages to reduce the frame weight by 50 g compared to the previous Addict RC SL. In the mid-range models, the reliable HMF carbon will allow for a more affordable price to provide almost the same performance more economically.
The search for maximum comfort has required Scott engineers to do significant simulation work in Finite Element Analysis Software, resulting in thinning both the seat stays and the seat tube to achieve greater vertical flex, 50% more than its predecessor.
This comfort is reinforced with wheel clearances capable of accommodating tires up to 38 mm and a redesigned geometry to have a higher stack that allows the cyclist a more relaxed position, or the same sporty position as the previous Scott Addict RC without the need for spacers under the stem, resulting in a much more attractive appearance for the bike. Scott engineers have also had to refine some parameters such as bottom bracket height or fork rake in order to accommodate the use of wider tires. All without sacrificing the sporty behavior of its predecessor, which is evident in aspects such as 2 mm shorter chainstays.
Continuing with the touring focus, Scott has equipped its new Addict with an internal storage system to carry tools and spare parts, but in order to save weight, instead of the typical storage in the downtube accessed through a cover, they have chosen to place it underneath at the base of this tube, next to the bottom bracket, which also lowers the center of gravity to improve the bike's performance. This feature will only be available in the Addict Premium and Addict 10 models, that is, those using the top-of-the-line HMX frame.
As a complement, a useful compact frame bag has been developed to be screwed under the top tube in the space between it, the head tube, and the downtube, allowing you to carry what you need for a long day of riding completely integrated with the bike. Additionally, a useful multitool is included that fits in the space where the handlebar plugs would go.
Speaking of the handlebar, it is worth mentioning that, in search of maximum adjustment options, the conventional stem and handlebar system has been used separately. However, both the integration with the steering and the seatpost section maintain the same design as the current Addict RC, which will remain in the catalog, allowing you to use its components, such as the integrated handlebar, to build a new Addict with the most sporty cut possible.
Undoubtedly, a bold proposal from Scott, combining the sportiness of previous Addict generations but aiming to expand its target audience towards the type of cyclist who shies away from competitiveness and for whom spending as much time as possible on the bike facing all kinds of routes is the priority, regardless of their difficulty.
